I’m super excited to be blogging at one of my favorite wedding websites, Weddingbee PRO! You can go over there to read my introductory post!
Weddingbee is an endless source of entertainment and inspiration for me, and I hope that I can do the same for brides and grooms working with their officiants or writing their own ceremonies! There’s so much out there to be inspired by in your wedding, and the ceremony is certainly no exception.
Of course, there will still be blogging here… wedding season is just starting up (May is going to be so busy!), so there will soon be even more ideas, plans, vows, and wedding pictures, don’t worry

You may have noticed little blurb updates from me via Twitter on the side bar of this blog. I’ve been using Twitter for a little over a month now, and tend to post a bunch of links there – the cool stuff I’m reading about weddings online through the myriad of wedding blogs out there. If you’re a Twitter-er, feel free to follow me over there as well for a daily dose of wedding inspiration! You can find me @EclecticUnions
The Iowa Supreme Court has decided that a 1998 law limiting marriage to a man and a woman was unconstitutional!
From the New York Times:
The decision was the culmination of a four-year legal battle that began with a suit filed on behalf of six same-sex couples in the lower courts.
The Supreme Court said same-sex marriages could begin in Iowa in as soon as 21 days, making Iowa only the third state in the nation, along with Massachusetts and Connecticut, to legalize gay marriage.
Yay!
Even though you’re reading my blog, and you’ve seen my website – do you still have questions about what, exactly, a Celebrant is?
The fabulous Celebrant Foundation, where I was trained, put together this promotional video, to showcase everything they offer and encourage others to “Love the art of life – become a Celebrant!”
If you’re not interesting in diving in, head first, to the world of ceremony & Celebrants, it’s still a fabulous resource to learn more about what a Celebrant REALLY is!
Take a look!

I have to say – it’s truly inspiring to me that I get to be a part of people’s big moments – it brings a lot of happiness and joy into my life to share in my couple’s own happiness & joy! This video really captures how passionate we Celebrants are about our vocation.
I’ve decided that, beginning with my 2009 weddings, to donate a portion of my Celebrant fee to an organization of the couple’s choosing, in their name. I think it’s a great way to honor your wedding, as well as give back to these fabulous local organizations that need our support.
I’ve chosen these organizations, though would be willing to donate to any worthy organization of the couple’s choice. I think this is a great way to give back, especially in these tough times, when organizations like these are especially needed – especially on the local level.
